Now For Something Completely Different

Authors on the Air podcast

Over the last couple of months, I started something new. Because writing two different series a year gave me too much free time. The lawn needs mowing, there’s a dust slick building up on my desk, and sleep is apparently overrated.

It started with a simple request from Pam Stack over at Authors on the Air. I’ve known Pam for years and we’d connect at conferences like ThrillerFest and Bouchercon. I’ve been fortunate to have been a guest on her show a few times and it’s always been a blast. So, when she asked me to guest host on Authors on the Air, I said sure. The idea was an occasional interview of authors I knew and enjoyed talking with.

That’s one of the best parts of going to conferences is catching up with author pals, meeting new authors, and talking book stuff. So taking on a guest host role for an interview here and there seemed a no brainer.

That’s how they get you.

Once you’re inside, you kind of get hooked on connecting with authors and helping them blast the podcast world about their new books. I get excited for them. I want to see them succeed.

I started out in January a with few friends with their releases. Baron Birtcher with Reckoning, Matt Coyle with Oddessy’s End, and Adam Plantinga with his debut The Ascent. These guys were incredibly tolerant and helped me work the bugs out of this podcasting thing. Both Matt and Baron have done great podcasts of their own and I’ve enjoyed their easy conversational style.

Since then I’ve been fortunate to interview a number of authors, including (youtube links below):

Most of these folks I’ve met at conferences over the years, but a few authors I met though this podcast, like UK-based author Peter James, creator of the critically acclaimed Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series.

Fast forward to today, Pam Stack will be stepping away as Host of the Authors On the Air after over 5,000 interviews. She deserves a break. She’ll still be the executive producer of the network. But I’m lucky to be stepping in as the new permanent host of Authors on the Air. I promised Pam I wouldn’t break anything…

More interviews are in the works and I hope you have a moment to check them out. Guest Hosts include Allison Brennan and Bruce Robert Coffin. Pam’s working on adding a few more guest hosts, and especially those who may be able to amplify diverse and underrepresented authors. So if you know of anyone, or have an author you’d like to know more about, please reach out to Pam at pam@authorsontheair.com

I’ll make an attempt to keep these interview links posted on this website on a separate page so you can find them. The links will include Youtube, SoundCloud, and Spotify for your viewing and listening pleasure.

Authors on the Air is part of the Authors on the Air Global Radio Network with a reach of 4 million listeners/viewers in over 53 countries.
