Big News on the Book Front

I’ve been a little bit frazzled as of late, which explains the infrequent posts here. I’m sure your inbox took short sigh of relief. But it’s all for a good reason–I swear.

Recent weeks have been consumed with four special projects that I can’t talk about (seriously–with non-disclosure agreements and threats of boiling oil) and three happenings I can talk about. The end result is exciting but exhausting.

First up is the news that Dead Drop was nominated for a Lefty Award in the Best Novel Category. Incredible news and I’m thrilled to be in the discussion along with such talened author friends. The entire list is:

Lefty Nominees for Best Mystery Novel
° Kellye Garrett, Like a Sister (Mulholland Books)
° Laurie R. King, Back to the Garden (Bantam Books)
° James L’Etoile, Dead Drop (Level Best Books)
° Gigi Pandian, Under Lock & Skeleton Key (Minotaur Books)
° Louise Penny, A World of Curiosities (Minotaur Books)
° Alex Segura, Secret Identity (Flatiron Books)
Look at these amazing authors!

The Lefty Awards will be presented at the Left Coast Crime convention in Tucson, Arizona on March 18, 2023. Ballot box stuffing is encouraged…

Secondly, the sequel to Dead Drop titled The Devil Within is due to hit bookstores this summer. It picks up where Dead Drop left off and Detective Nathan Parker uncovers a link between recent shooting deaths of migrant supporters and the unsolved murder of his partner. How much will Nathan sacrifice to avenge his partner’s murder?

The Devil Within will be available this summer, so stay tuned for an upcoming cover reveal and pre-order details.

And last but, not the least, The debut installment of a new series featuring Sacramento Police Detective, Emily Hunter, titled Face of Greed releases on November 7th, 2023 from Oceanview Publishing.

Detective Emily Hunter investigates the brutal murder of a man in his home. What seems to be little more than a home invasion gone wrong, starts to unravel revealing darker forces in play. Political powerbrokers want the case dropped which makes Emily dig in. While Emily balances caring for her mother with early onset Alzheimer’s, it’s a race to control the dead man’s secrets. A deadly game of greed and deception pulls Emily deeper into the shadowy world of gang violence and retribution. Emily walks the razor’s edge to identify the killer without becoming the next victim.

The pre-order links are up on the usual retailers, so please go check it out. Pre-orders are important, so if your thinking about clicking, by all means, please do. Amazon and Barnes & Noble

And check out this beauty of a cover. Many thanks to the folks who chimed in on the cover choices. It’s dynamite:

So, that’s my excuse for being a bit invisible over here. Thanks for following along and I hope you take the chance to check out that new books coming out this year. it’s been a crazy ride.
