Remember when you were a kid and the old folks would say how fast the year went by? While you were stuck in middle school hell, the year passed like molasses through the eye of a needle. It. Would. Never. End.
Now, I’m one of the old folks because this year flew by.
Overall, the year was the usual mix of highs and lows, but there were decidedly more highs this year, especially when it came to the writing stuff. Face of Greed hit its stride and readers seems to like Emily Hunter’s snarky personality. She earned multiple award nominations, Anthony, Lefty, and received some award recognition from the Public Safety Writers Association (PSWA) and took home a Silver Falchion from Killer Nashville. Devil Within (the Detective Nathan Parker series) was named best thriller by PSWA. I’m very lucky and get to bring more Emily (River of Lies) and Nathan (Sins of the Father) in their respective series for you in 2025.
But one of the unexpected things this year was a side project with Authors on the Air. What began as a guest host gig in January turned into taking the reins from Pam Stack and hosting the Authors on the Air podcast. I expected to guest host maybe four to five interviews during the year. Well, something happened and I kind of did a few more–like fifty more.
Like OJ Simpson… (If) I did it.
I was fortunate to be able to interview many of my author friends, and authors who I’ve read and admired. If you haven’t had a chance to check out Authors on the Air, give it a try. These are easy 15-20 minute sessions to get readers acquainted with the author, their new book, and what goes into creating their stories. The sessions can be found just about anywhere you listen of watch your favorite podcasts. Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts, Google Play…you name it.
Check out some of your favorites, like Fiona Barton, Peter James, Reed Farrel Coleman, Tessa Wegert, Julia Dahl, Elly Griffiths, Baron Birtcher, Mark Greaney, Jeffery Wilson & Brian Andrews, LynDee Walker & Bruce Robert Coffin, Margot Douhaiy, Wanda Morris, Matt Coyle, Rick Molina, T. Jefferson Parker, Steve Berry & Grant Blackwood, and dozens of your favs. I’ve collected most of the fifty-plus interviews on a page for you. Authors on the Air Interviews Go check them out.

2025 will be off to a great start with interviews on the books for Gregg Hurwitz, Alafair Burke, Robert Crais, Jordan Harper, Ward Larsen, T. Jefferson Parker, and Andromeda Romano-Lax. Who would you like to hear from in future episodes? I do need to find a little more time to do my own writing…
Take care and I wish you the happiest of new years.

So, you really didn’t do much in 2024 then… 🙂
You’ve had a banner year James, congrats on the accomplishments!
